Fresh Spring Greens

Happy HUMP Day everyone!

At this very moment it is cloudy and windy in Tunica, but lately it has been beautiful around here! This time of year, Tom gets super excited about his garden, and planting all sorts of wonderful veggies for us to have over the summer.

Last year we were having issues growing anything in our back yard, so this year we are moving the garden to his parents house, who have lots of land. He has big plans for peppers, tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers...the list goes on and on.

At our house, however, we do have a couple things already sprouting up....

Last weekend we went with the
neighbor family to this amazing nursery about 30 minutes away. It was insane...they had every plant and flower imaginable. I wanted something super bright and colorful for my patio table and came home with this little cutie:

This pottery planter was an engagement gift from some of my in-law's friends, and it is one of my favorite pieces!

Last year, Tom made these amazing herb boxes for me and as you might remember I ate basil every day for two months. Love, love, love fresh basil. This year I requested parsley:

So many recipes call for fresh parsley and now I've got plenty of it!

And of course...teacher's pet...my basil love.

And some lovely cilantro for fresh homemade salsa!

Isn't it beautiful, standing up so tall and proud?

Over to the side we have rosemary planted in the ground, instead of in a box. This is last year's bush and it has gotten to be HUGE!

Next to it (also in the ground) is mint.

This mint smells amazing. I love to put a little sprig in some water or iced tea...'cause I'm fancy like that.

There's our whole little patio...I love the way it looks with the colorful daises and fresh herbs in the box!

And we can't forget about her majesty....

Dutifully watching over her herbs and flowers to ensure squirrels and birdies don't swoop in and dig anything up. Such a good watch dog.

We're halfway to the weekend, folks! Have a great week!
